Characteristics of Fissured Tongue
The characteristics of fissured tongue are quite easy to identify due to its clear signs and indications. The most common feature of a fissured tongue comprises of the appearance of clefts, grooves and cracks on the upper and side of the tongue. These tongue fissures might look ugly and scary, but they are definitely nothing to worry about. It has been observed that the tongue fissures develop only on the tongue and nowhere else in the body. It is possible that the tongue fissures connect each other, separating the tongue into different areas and circles. While the tongue fissures are not too deep, they vary in depth across the surface of the tongue. Usually, a dental examination would lead to the discovery of tongue fissures. With age, your tongue fissures would worsen and might become more prominent. Even then, a fissured tongue is not considered to be a problem, not unless there is an excessive buildup of debris in between them.
